New Voices
I think I should call this week's post "LOTS of New Voices". The number of requests to add blogs has become almost overwhelming. To give you an idea of how busy I've been, I was 30 minutes late for the final exam for my Master Gardener class on Friday!
We have our first Asian blog. mean jeans orchids is neither mean nor authored by Jean. Instead, Andy Roach who lives in Taiwan, shares his expertise and scrumptious photos of these tropical lovelies. You can post your questions to his blog. Another first for me is David Hamilton's Gardens blog, the very first gardening blog I ever read! David is a gardener, musician and philosopher. He lives in Yorkshire, UK.
My own blog has become a source of new blogs also. Harvest McCampbell left a comment there and when I clicked over to her blog, Real Food & Scandalous Gardening Secrets, I discovered she is a published author. Her book, Sacred Smoke: The Ancient Art of Smudging for Modern Times is available in bookstores and Amazon.com and now her blog is available here! Another commenter on my blog with a great blog of her own is Karen in Ontario, Canada. She just wrote a really great post with enticing photos about her rain barrels at 1-2-3 Go Garden.
Stuart Robinson of Brusselton, Australia had submitted a request to add his two blogs but never recieved a reply. After reading my post last week asking bloggers to resubmit their requests, he decided to give me a second chance and emailed another request. I'm glad he did! His first blog, Gardening For Dummies provides clear, concise gardening advice. If you have questions about lawn mowers, you'll want to visit his newest blog, Lawn Mower Review. And he discusses lawns, too!
Gardening in the colder zones can be a real challenge. Fortunately, there are blogs like Colleen Vanderlinden's In The Garden Online which she writes specifically for gardeners in Michigan. Another state specific blog is Idaho Gardener by Mary Ann Newcomer. I was especially happy she joined us because we didn't have any blogs from Idaho.
Closer to home for me at least are two New Jersey bloggers. Anthony Tripodi writes gardening tales from a New Jersey Compost Bin. He has recently done a series of posts on cute, furry garden pests. Just a hop, skip and a jump away from me is Julie Walton Shaver in Metuchen, New Jersey, who writes about trees in her blog, A Tree Grower's Diary. I hope you are enjoying her new feature "Photograph of the Day".
Two of "our" bloggers, Heather Galindo of Garden Obsession and Elaine Mesker-Garcia of cybertoad's garden have teamed up to write a garden blog called Green Space for the Houston Chronicle. Elaine's latest post gives us a peek at her gardening library.
Had enough yet? I haven't. Keep those requests coming!
