Red And Black Day

I have been off today. It was a day of cleaning up the Alley that runs behind the garden. The neighbours two doors away had decimated the hedge but left the shredded branches and leaves along the path (except for their own bit if alley).
I collected the woody bits and big stemmed branches and moved them into the sanctuary behind the Wall. This strip is a buffer zone between the building site and the alley way alongside the houses. . . .

More photos of Reiman Gardens last August.
I left work early to drive up to see my Dad who is back in the hospital again, I fear the end is near, he is in kidney failure, he seems so agitated and in pain, I asked the nurse if they couldn't do more to help that and she is going to talk to the doctor, my Mother is going to talk to him as well tomorrow AM. I have never been through anything like this in my life so I have no experience to draw on but it sure seems he could be made more comfortable, they are not allowing him to have much to drink either because of the kidney failure, I don't understand that either.

More about pumps

From the Pondlady's Pad via From the Pondlady's Pad on 1969-12-31, 19:00:00

When you read the specs about pumps you will understand most of it. One thing that often confuses people is 'head'. Head is usually expressed in feet and means that is how high the water will pump at its highest. For example on this Aquamax pump, the head is 10.5' So when the water reaches that height, it will simply sit there at the top of the pipe or hose and go no higher. Lower the hose and water comes out. Raise the pump and water comes out. Head height will be affected by the size of the hose as well. This pump will have a 10.5' head using a 1.5" hose. A larger diameter hose will make the head lower. . . .

Winter will return, but today I have my windows open and the fan on low. A cool breeze is blowing through, and I hear the voices of children playing outside. Franklin the dog and I had a long walk this morning ... he chased a squirrel ... life is good.

Well, Monday I played instead of working. Tuesday I did manage to work before I played. And my lawn suffered for it. And since it's slick, yellow clay mud, it slid under my bagging mower. Not that my lawn and moss can't recover, but it's a mess. Oh, well. Makes me glad I didn't resolve to get more exercise. To give you an idea of how high this is, the 80th percentile is 401 cubic feet per second. Here's the link to the site but since it is in real time, I'm not sure you can tell much from it.
