I didn't pull a loop the loop but started harvesting, a little early perhaps, my Red Baron onions when rain was forecast and I wouldn't get to the allotment for over a week. They did best on the unmanured bed,...

Onion plants. They look like wierd alien plants to me, with thier clump of baby onions on top. This is my second year growing onions, so I'm a bit new at this. (I'm a bit new at any vegetable!) There is a smaller onion inbetween the alien things, that is growing seeds. Last year I planted seeds from my onion head, which are turning into nice looking onions. But the alien things? What do I do with those? I feel like they want to be planted maybe. I could try eating one.

Realization Of The Day:
Beauty and art are everywhere--even in a single onion.
So
the greenhouse
survived our putting it back together. What one of us thought was going to be an extremely quick and easy task ended up taking the entire day. But it almost looks like it did before the storm. And while we worked we had homemade wind thanks to the giant fan pointed down the greenhouse walkway--and no idea of just how hot it really was out there because the thermometer broke (melted?) at 120.6 degrees F.
From Garden To Table:
TOMATOES! My simple recipe for Summer In A Bowl is coming
very soon

So, here then are the celeriac seedlings, nestling in their perlite and compost bed and reaching for the light. I planted some more red baron onion seeds this week and transplanted the seedlings from the first sowing into pots. The fresh smell of onion was quite refreshing. I'm writing about sowing seeds for my book at the moment so if you have any top tips, do let me know ......
